Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga2007. 3.22

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India combines breath, Breathe with sound : deep slightly audible nostril breathing, BANDHAS : internal energy locks, and DRISHTI : specific gazing points, in a specific sequence of Asanas(postures) linked by VINYASA : synchronizing movement with the breath.
This unique combination brings together the foundation wherein the benefits of this yoga system may be best experienced.
With constant practice one gains strength, flexibility and grace of both mind and body.
This internal purification gives the practitioner a meditaitive quality that leads to a deeper understanding of the self and leads to one's inner peace.

In physical exercise we work like a machine to develop muscles and muscular srength.
In yoga asanas the mind concentrates on the movement, breath, and on certain points of the body. The mind, body and breath will be in tune.
In this way asana makes a perfect union(YOGA).It is a meditation!
Asanas give enormous physical benefits and mental strength.
By doing asana practice, one can maintain good health physically and mentally.
It leads to a deeper understanding of the self and leads to one's inner peace and happiness.

"Practice, practice.... and all is coming" Sri K. Pattabhi Jois
